Product Care: Patio Furniture

Wrought Iron - Clean with warm, soapy water. To maintain the gloss on non-textured finishes protect with a fine automotive wax. On textured finishes, periodically apply mineral or baby oil. When covering small spots of surface rust, clean area by lightly sanding and wipe immediately to prevent rust. When preparing scratched surfaces for touch-up painting, rub lightly with a fine steel wool to smooth surface and improve paint adhesion. Apply thin coats of touch up paint and allow ample drying between coats.

Teak - When left outdoors, teak will turn a handsome silvery gray. This process will take from 6 to 12 months. Slight checking and lifting of the grain is normal as the teak goes through the weathering process. To maintain original wood color, use a teak cleaner, following the instructions on the container. To clean the silver-gray color, use a mild soap and water with a soft bristle brush. Do not use any type of oil if furniture is outside, as this may cause mildew and irregular coloring.

All Weather Wicker - Vacuum or use a soft brush on wicker to remove any loose dirt. To remove a heavier buildup of dirt wash with mild detergent and warm water. Rinse and allow to dry thoroughly before use.

Aluminum - Apply a coat of liquid wax at the start of each season. Wipe down the furniture frame occasionally with mild soapy water and rinse. For stubborn stains use a product like Soft Scrub. Touch up nicks and scratches promptly with touch-up paint. Spray WD-40 oil on chair swivels or glides twice a season.

Cushions - Periodically, clean entire cushion with a sponge or soft scrub brush and lukewarm solution of mild liquid soap and water. Rinse and allow to air dry. Spills should be sponged as soon as possible. Spot wash using same method as above and rinse entire cushion to prevent a ring from appearing. Store cushions in a clean and dry area. Do not wrap in plastic.
